Mr. Johnson has almost 40 years of experience as a Principal in Charge and/or Project Manager for master planning, programming, and design.  And, for the last 30 years he has focused on the planning and design of Justice Facilities.


He has been with Reilly Johnson Architecture since 1985, and was named a principal in 1987, and president of the firm in 1998. From 1978 to through 1985 he was with RNL Design of Denver, where he was a project manager for planning|programming, architecture, and interiors projects for both private and public sector clients.  While at RNL he was also Vice President of their planning and programming subsidiary Interplan, where he led large programming and master planning efforts for the 1981 divestiture of ATT involving over 1 million sf of office space for Mountain Bell in metro-Denver; and for a 1.2 million sf Technical Services Center for Public Service Company of Colorado (now Xcel Energy); and for over 500,000 sf of office and laboratory  space for the Solar Energy Research Institute (now NREL) in Golden.


Since 1988 he has been continuously involved in the planning of courts, law enforcement, detention, and corrections projects for municipal, county, and state clients throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Iowa, and News Mexico.


In recent years he was Principal in Charge of the master planning, programming, concept design, and cost modeling for the 1.2M square foot, $370M Downtown Denver Justice Center for both Mayor Webb and Mayor Hickenlooper; and for the 586,000 sf Jefferson County CO Sheriff Complex 2025 Master Plan.
