Denver-based architecture firm Reilly Johnson Architecture (RJA) has served the justice needs of urban and rural clients for over thirty years, with work ranging from a 32-bed detention center to the $378M Denver Justice Center. RJA has worked on projects in Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Nebraska and Iowa, and with 50 detention center projects in Colorado with a combined $1.4B in construction costs, are the leaders in detention center design in the state. RJA has deep experience in humanistic normative design, sustainability, and creating alternatives and diversions to incarceration, and their project areas of expertise include courts, sheriffs offices, probation offices, and district attorney offices.

Reilly Johnson Architecture is named after the original owners/principals, Robert Johnson and Thomas Reilly.

 

LEADERSHIP

RJA is led by two Principals, Bob Brashears and Page Phillips, established regional leaders in detention center design. Bob and Page are both actively involved throughout the design and construction phases, and bring a combined 45 + years of detention center design experience, including master planning and facility design, project detailing, specifications writing, and construction administration.

  • Bob has been a Principal at Reilly Johnson Architecture since 1998, and has been responsible for leading many of the firm’s detention and correctional projects. For the past 30 years he has been involved primarily in the design of projects for governmental and institutional clients, including Justice Facilities, Detention Facilities, and County wide masterplanning. Bob brings to every project he works on a commitment to creating the highest quality building for the Owner, which is always responsive to project budgets and schedules, and always responsive to sustainability issues. Bob has particular experience with projects that include numerous stakeholders that require coordination between facilities departments, user groups, contractors, and community entities. His projects have ranged from $1M to $120M in project cost.

    Bob’s specific expertise is with the design and construction of detention facilities, including providing space needs assessments and master planning. Bob has been working on this particular project type continuously for more than 20 years, including work for all of the largest detention facilities in Colorado, including Denver County, Jefferson County, Arapahoe County, and El Paso County.

Page Phillps, Principal
  • Page joined Reilly Johnson Architecture in 2006 as a Job Captain and Project Coordinator, and was named an Associate in the firm in 2015. He has been involved in the design and production of numerous justice and education projects including: courthouses, detention and law enforcement centers, correctional facilities, and K-12 schools. He has over 13 years experience in architecture, 7 years in construction, and 8 years in public education. Prior to joining Reilly Johnson Architecture he worked with Davis Partnership Architects in Denver.

    As a Project Architect, and as a Project Manager he is involved in all project phases. Notably, he is responsible for building design, coordinating design work, coordination of work from Design Team members, and the production of all phases of design and construction documents. Page takes pride in his ability to work within a Team to creatively achieve goals. His teaching and construction background allows him to communicate and work effectively with clients, contractors, and consultants.
